NPP files Petition at Supreme Court    Share

The Party Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Jake Obestsebi Lamptey has confirmed that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has formally completed the filing of a suit contesting the announced results of the December 7 general elections at the Supreme Court.

Addressing a press in Accra, the Chairman of the party stated: “I am happy to inform everybody here that suit number J1/6/13 has been duly filed at the Registry of the Supreme Court.”

He indicated that there were three named plaintiffs in the suit, namely Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Dr Mahamudu Bawiumia and himself.

The party is of the opinion that, the election results were rigged in favour of the incumbent, President John Mahama who they claim colluded with EC officials to manipulate the results.

The Party Chairman indicated that the evidence available to the investigative team, headed by Dr Bawumia, proved clearly that an illegality had been perpetuated.

He indicated the evidence had been critically analysed "from a fresh field [to be] able to discern the pattern that we had to prove in the Supreme Court and the numbers we had to prove in Supreme Court, if our case is to be successful."
